Our mission
I want to strengthen the Meshtastic mesh in Memphis, the Mid-South, and surrounding areas by building an inviting community focused on onboarding, troubleshooting, guidance, and helping new users get connected.
Build the network
Encourage smart node placement, better antennas, and shared coverage goals.
Make it easy
Simple guides that get beginners from “zero” to “first message sent.”
Community-first
Friendly help, respectful discussion, and local knowledge that grows over time.
What is Memphis Mesh?
Memphis Mesh is a community of local Meshtastic users building a shared LoRa mesh network for the Mid-South. It’s useful, educational, and a solid “plan B” for communication when normal systems fail.
How it works
Your device pairs to your phone via Bluetooth. Messages go over LoRa to nearby nodes, and can hop through the mesh until they reach someone else (or bounce around until a route appears).
What you need
- A supported Meshtastic device
- The Meshtastic app (iOS or Android)
- Optional: better antenna / higher placement for range
What to expect
- Messages aren’t always instant — routing can take a moment
- Nodes may come and go (battery / travel / power)
- Elevation and antenna quality matter a lot
Get started in 10 minutes
This is the quick path. We’ll add deeper guides and screenshots as the community grows.
- Get a device: choose a reliable “phone-friendly” node that supports Meshtastic.
- Install the app: pair over Bluetooth and confirm it shows Connected.
- Set your name: use a simple handle + area (example:
STNK-MEMPHIS). - Send a test message: “Hello from ___ — new node online!”
Join the community
The forum is where you’ll create an account (username/email/password), verify your email, and connect with others for troubleshooting, guidance, and local coverage reports.
Tip: If you share your forum link here, I’ll wire it in for you exactly (and we can add a “Start Here” pinned post next).
